We are hiring Web Developer

Job description

We are looking for highly motivated and talented individuals to join our team as Junior Web Developers. As a web developer, you will work with a team of developers and designers to create amazing web applications using various technologies. 

This is a remote working opportunity, which means you can work from anywhere in the world. You’ll be joining a team of talented developers and working on creating innovative products that are used by 4+ million users worldwide.

MUST have:

You must have a passion for programming and a strong understanding of fundamental web development concepts.

Although prior work experience in organizations is not required, you must have experience with web development projects (such as personal passion projects on GitHub, open source contributions, internships, or similar) in some of the technology stacks mentioned above.

IMPORTANT: If you do not have this experience, your application will most likely not be considered. Therefore, be sure to spend some time taking tutorials on YouTube or any other learning platform of your choice, and create some personal trial projects before you apply.

Education and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Prior professional work experience is not required. However, as mentioned above, the candidate must have experience with web development projects (such as personal passion projects on GitHub, open source contributions, internships, or similar).

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software products that meet the needs of our clients and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development: Lead the design, development, and implementation of software solutions. Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.

We are hiring a graphic designer!

Job position: Graphic Designer / Illustrator (mid weight)
Hours: 37.5 hrs per week Monday – Friday 9.30 – 6pm

Start date: Immediate start (or as soon as possible)
Salary: £25,000 – £27,000 (depending on experience)

make:good are looking to recruit a mid weight Graphic Designer & Illustrator for public engagement and participation projects, as well as supporting with in-house design for our newsletters and social media.

We apply a people-centred design practice to projects that gives people a sense of identity in the place they live in, creating simple, tangible tools that people can relate to. We demystify planning processes and do whatever it takes to offer people a wide range of ways to get involved and have their say, by making work that is engaging and accessible.

Our studio is based in Bermondsey; however, this role will also involve being in project neighbourhoods across London and beyond, as we believe in embedding ourselves in an area to really understand it. Currently we are all working remotely due to Covid 19 but that situation is subject to change.

About you

Essential

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to build relationships with a wide range of people
  • Excellent digital graphic design skills including the use of CS Suite: InDesign, Photoshop & Illustrator
  • Strong visual eye capable of developing curious and exciting concepts for engagement tools
  • Versatile designer, who can make the most of others’ brand guidelines
  • Self-motivated and confident to develop design concepts in 2D & 3D independently
  • Experience of planning and delivering engagement activities and workshops
  • Organised and able to manage time effectively
  • Interest in people, places and how people can influence the places where they live
  • Good level of IT skills (Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite)

  • Photography skills

Desired

  • Web / app design (basic coding skills)
  • Awareness of materials and producing permanent 2D & 3D work

About the role

This role is about ensuring that the visual quality of the work supports the engagement process. You will have the opportunity to develop the visual identities for a number of our projects, creating the design assets that play such a key role in our engagement.

This is more than your average graphic design role – there will also be plenty of opportunities to get hands on with our projects. This role would suit designers who are also interested in connecting with the communities their work aims to reach.

You will be expected to:

  • work flexibly within a team across a number of projects
  • devise and execute interesting and unique ways of presenting information and capturing feedback on the information from members of the public
  • develop and facilitate participatory resources and activities for people of all ages to draw out their views on change in their area
  • create consistent and clear messages for local people
  • talk to members of the public about projects, gather their ideas and dig deeper to draw out unique insight
  • on occasion attend evening and weekend events
  • contribute to physical design interventions for permanent and temporary solutions
  • create graphic assets for make:good’s social media and online channels
  • handle other office duties as appropriate including ordering materials, arranging event logistics, budgeting, programming and diary management.
